Hong Kong sets up Inno Space to create new ecosystem for innovation

HONG KONG, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- To promote innovation and technology development, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government has commissioned the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) to set up Inno Space, which was opened here Friday.

Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the HKSAR government Nicholas Yang and Chairman of HKPC Willy Lin officiated at the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lin said that Inno Space aims to nurture a startup culture and promote re-industrialization in Hong Kong. As home to makers, designers and students, it also strives to foster a culture of innovation in Hong Kong.

"In addition to providing a variety of advanced facilities, HKPC experts are on hand to offer one-stop technical support to startups at every stage of their idea-to- commercialization odysseys, from intellectual property protection, product development, production, to testing , etc," Lin added.

Spanning 8,000 square feet, Inno Space comprises three zones, namely Inno Idea, Inno Prototype, and Inno Network. It offers a complete one-stop service from idea to industry, turning design concepts into products; leverages the strengths of HKPC and other major players in the startup spaces for mutual development.

Located at HKPC's headquarters in Kowloon Tong of Hong Kong, Inno Space is equipped with a spectrum of advanced software and hardware facilities such as 3D printing machines, laser cutting tooling, computer-aided engineering software, motion capturing systems and among others.
