TOKYO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- A former Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) lawmaker who resigned in June following allegations she physically and verbally abused her secretary had the case sent by police to prosecutors on Friday.

Mayuko Toyota, 43, was alleged by the weekly magazine Shukan Shincho to have shouted at her secretary while she was sitting in the back seat of the car he was driving, and repeated struck him in the head and face.

The magazine uploaded an audio file to the internet of the incident that took place in May which is purportedly a recording of the violent incident as it unfolds.

In the recording, a woman can be heard hurling abuse at a man whom she at one point refers to as "baldy" and tells him to "die."

Toyota, a former lower house member who has previously served as parliamentary vice education minister, ran unsuccessfully as an independent in Sunday's lower house election.

She was seeking reelection in a constituency in Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo.

Toyota apologized for verbally abusing the secretary but denied allegations she physically assaulted him at a press conference in September.

"I have never inflicted serious injury on him by being violent," she said.
