Tokyo stocks open higher on Wall Street's overnight advance, yen's retreat

TOKYO, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher on Wednesday following Wall Street's advance overnight and the yen's slide against the U.S. dollar which gave exporter issues a boost.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 105.90 points, or 0.49 percent, from Tuesday to 21,911.07.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 7.65 points, or 0.44 percent, to 1,764.57.

Insurance, bank and machinery-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
