NEW DELHI, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Tuesday arrived in India on a day-long visit to review relations between the two countries.

President Ghani will meet Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on regional and global issues of mutual interest, while the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will call on him.

"Both sides will have the opportunity to review the entire gamut of multifaceted bilateral strategic partnership ... and coordinate on furthering the shared objective of promoting peace, security, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan," the External Affairs Ministry said.

President Ghani's visit comes days after India declined the U.S. request to send troops to Afghanistan, but reiterated its commitment for training Afghan security personnel and helping in reconstruction of the war-torn country.
