MADRID, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- A Spanish military aircraft, a F16 jet, has crashed at Torrejon Air Base near the Spanish capital, state-run EFE news agency reported Tuesday.
The accident took place at 11:00 a.m. local time (0900 GMT) when firemen and emergency services rushed to the scene. The pilot was confirmed dead, according to police.
This was Spain's second accident in less than a week. On Oct. 12, an aircraft crashed upon landing at the Los Llanos Air Base, killing the pilot who was participating in Spain's national day military parade.
