ISLAMABAD, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Monday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Mogadishu last Saturday in which 276 people were killed and hundreds of others injured.
"The people and Government of Pakistan express their heartfelt condolences to the people and government of Somalia and especially to the bereaved families," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Pakistan, which has fought terrorism resolutely, can sympathize and feel the pain of Somali people at this difficult time," the statement said.
Information Minister of Somalia Abdirahman Osman, in a tweet, held terrorist group Al-Shabaab responsible for the "barbaric attack."
The explosion happened in a busy shopping area.
A truck packed with explosives detonated near the entrance of the Safari Hotel, basically destroying the whole area, reports said. It was the deadliest single attack in Somalia's history.
