PARIS, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron during a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Friday voiced commitment to the Iran nuclear deal, saying the United States decision to decertify the accord would not cancel it.
The U.S. decision "would not put an end to the Iranian nuclear agreement," Macron said, pledging that "with all parties, France and its European partners would continue to implement their commitments."
Over the phone talk, the French president told his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani to strictly respect the accord and make progress in dialogue over issues related to its ballistic program and regional security in order to press through the deal's full implementation.
Earlier on Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump said he would decertify Iran's compliance with the agreement, dealing a blow to world powers' diplomatic efforts to handle Iranian crisis.
Iran signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA) in 2015 with the United States, Russia, Britain, China and France plus Germany, under which Tehran agreed to roll back parts of its nuclear weapon program in exchange for decreased economic sanctions.
