U.S. stocks close up amid earnings, data

NEW YORK, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended slightly higher on Friday, as investors digested third quarter earnings reports and major economic data.

The Dow was up 0.14 percent, and the S&P 500 rose 0.09 percent, while the Nasdaq increased 0.22 percent.
