LONDON, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.06 percent, or 4.46 points, to close at 7,533.81 points.
Whitbread, a multinational hotel, coffee shop and restaurant company, soared 3.41 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. NMC Health and Smith & Nephew increased by 3.32 percent and 3.09 percent, respectively.
Mondi, an international packaging and paper group, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 7.80 percent. Smurfit Kappa Group, a paper-based packaging company, dropped 2.94 percent. BHP Billiton, a global resources company, fell 2.15 percent. Enditem
