MADRID, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy on Wednesday asked the regional government of Catalonia to formally clarify if they have declared independence.

Rajoy made the call after an extraordinary cabinet meeting to deal with the situation in Catalonia.
