VIENTIANE, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Two Lao female boxers are scheduled to compete at the Asian Women's Boxing Championship to be held next month in Vietnam.

Daomayouly Thitilath in the 48kg and Mimy Nhoysaikham in the 51kg categories will represent Laos in the Asian Women's Boxing Championship in Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City during Nov. 5-10.

The two women are currently preparing at the Lao National Sports Training Center. They will travel to Thailand for trainning with experienced Thai boxers during their camp from Oct. 14 to Nov. 2 to prepare for the event, according to Lao state-run media Vientiane Times on Tuesday.

Local authorities are hopeful the two can do well at the championship but are realistic of their medal chances. "It is very difficult to develop women's boxing talent across various categories because women generally are not attracted to the sport," Secretary of the Lao Boxing Federation Somphone Manikham was quoted as saying.
