BEIJING, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Top seeds Henri Kontinen of Finland and John Peers of Australia edged American pair John Isner and Jack Sock 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 to claim the China Open men's doubles title here on Sunday.
It's Peers and Kontinen's third title this season. Isner and Sock cut the tie-break deficit to 8-7 from 8-4 but then lost two points in a row to surrender the match after they tied the final at one set apiece.
"When you play Jack and John, they're both such big servers and can take the match away from you if you don't be careful, but I thought we served really well today," Peers said.
In the women's event, No.1 seeds Chan Yung-Jan of Chinese Taipei and Martina Hingis of Switzerland dispatched No.4 seeds Timea Babos of Hungary and Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic 6-1, 6-4.
"I think we were really aggressive from the beginning. That's why we had quite a quick first set. We are both very happy with our performance," said Chan.
