DUBAI, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Hussain bin Ibrahim Al-Hammadi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Education, said on Saturday in Abu Dhabi that teachers should "create an environment that promotes learning" and they should embrace new technologies in order to stay "relevant" in the education labour market.

Al-Hammadi said on the opening day of the Qudwa 2017 Global Teachers' Forum that every country that is seeking to promote its knowledge economy has to focus on education.

"We need to leverage technology in the education system, similar to its use in other sectors of the economy," the minister pointed out.

Earlier in the year, the UAE has launched the Centennial 2071 plan which aims at transforming the Gulf Arab state into "the best and most advanced country in the world," with investments into education and new technologies as the driving forces to achieve this objective.
