TOKYO, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday after robust manufacturing data for September sent Wall Street higher overnight, which set a solid tone for market players here.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 62.01 points, or 0.30 percent, from Monday to 20,462.79.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 5.77 points, or 0.34 percent, to 1,679.39.
Transportation, electric power and gas, and real estate-linked stocks comprised those that gained the most in early trade.
