BUJUMBURA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Burundian parliament on Monday denounced the resolution by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) renewing the mandate of a commission of inquiry into alleged crimes against humanity in Burundi since 2015.

The condemnation was voiced in two separate events as the Burundian parliament's two chambers, the National Assembly and the Senate, launched their October ordinary sessions.

"We were angered by the resolution passed last week on Friday by UNHRC in its session in Geneva, Switzerland," said Burundian National Assembly Speaker Pascal Nyabenda.

The same condemnation was also voiced by Burundian Senate President Reverien Ndikuriyo.

Last week, the UNHRC passed a resolution which extends, for one year, the mandate of a commission of inquiry into human rights abuses in Burundi.

Three UN investigators appointed by the UNHRC in September issued a report urging the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open a case against the Burundian government on alleged crimes against humanity committed since 2015.

The investigators had collected views from Burundian refugees living in neighboring countries and in Europe, but were denied access to the Burundian territory due to a previous "biased and wrong" report, according to the Burundian government.
