TRIPOLI, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Monday issued a report saying that during September, violence in Libya killed 12 civilians and injured 23 others, including women and children.

"The killed include seven men, three women and two children," the report said.

"The majority of civilian casualties were caused by explosive remnants of war and gunfire," the report added.

"UNSMIL was unable to determine with certainty which parties to the conflicts had caused the civilian casualties in September," it said.

The Mission demanded all parties involved in the conflicts in Libya to stop the use of mortars, other indirect weapons and unprecise airstrikes on populated areas.

Since the 2011 uprising that toppled former leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime, Libya has been suffering escalating violence and insecurity, as well as political division.
