MANAMA, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain's interior ministry announced on Monday that five policemen were slightly injured in an attack while securing an Ashura procession in north Manama.
The ministry tweeted that the incident occurred in Diah village in north Manama, where the police were deployed to secure an Ashura procession marking the death anniversary of Imam Al Hussain, Prophet Mohammed's grandson who is memorized by Shiite Muslims all over the world.
The police did not provide further details about the nature of the blast.
Many policemen have died or been injured in such attacks in recent years by violent youths.
