DOHA, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Qatar said that the best way to resolve the issues of refugees and migration is to eliminate the major causes that forced those to leave their home countries, Qatar news agency(QNA) reported Friday.
These factors included conflicts, marginalization, economic and social weaknesses as well as instability, said Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon Ali bin Hamad Al Marri in his speech representing Qatar before the opening session of the regional consultative meeting on international migration.
Qatar would continue to support the efforts made by the UN Economic and Social Commission for West Asia (ESCWA), the Arab League and International Organization for Migration (IOM) to reach global consensus on the issue of refugees for the benefit of the international community, he added.
Comprising 18 Arab countries, ESCWA aims at promoting economic and social development in western Asia through regional and sub-regional cooperation and integration.
