TOKYO, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as investors obtained the right to dividends from the first half of the year a day earlier and on continued geopolitical concerns, but losses were limited by the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 59.22 points, or 0.29 percent, from Tuesday to 20,270.97.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 9.52 points, or 0.57 percent, to 1,663.22.
Land transportation, electric power and gas, and bank-linked stocks comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
