AMMAN, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Council of Ministers in Jordan on Sunday approved an agreement to establish a Chinese cultural centre in the Kingdom, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The agreement, the Cabinet said, seeks to enhance cooperation between Jordan and China in various areas, especially in the field of culture.

The centre, a non-profit cultural institution, will work on enhancing ties between the two countries in this regard.

The Chinese cultural centre will be responsible for holding a series of cultural activities as well as other activities that focus on arts, education and other entertainment activities, the Cabinet said.

The centre seeks to facilitate the exchange of expertise between China and Jordan and introduce the Chinese and the Jordanian cultures.

Reading rooms as well as halls for displaying the various Chinese and Jordanian arts will be set up at the centre.

According to the Chinese Embassy in Jordan, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding in September, 2016 on the establishment of the Chinese cultural center.
