5.8-magnitude quake hits off Ferndale, California -- USGS

NEW YORK, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted 212km West of Ferndale, California, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said on Friday.

The epicenter, with a depth of 12.0 km, was initially determined to be at 40.406 degrees north latitude and 126.755 degrees west longitude.
