Dollar falls to 111 yen zone on renewed geopolitical concerns

TOKYO, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar dropped to the upper 111 yen zone Friday in Tokyo amid renewed tension on the Korean Peninsula.

The dollar was quoted at 112.00-02 yen at 5 p.m. local time, compared with 112.44-54 yen in New York and 112.54-55 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Thursday. It fluctuated between 111.65 yen and 112.55 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.1992-1993 dollars and 134.31-35 yen against 1.1937-1947 dollars and 134.28-38 yen in New York and 1.1903-1904 dollars and 133.96-134.00 yen in Tokyo late Thursday afternoon.
