UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in New York on Monday, with the two exchanging views on Syria, Iran and Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
The two leaders met on the sidelines of the General Debate of the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In their meeting, Trump and Netanyahu also expressed their willingness to solve the Syrian crisis in a manner consistent with American and Israeli security interests, according to a statement released by the White House.
An Israeli official said earlier on Monday that Netanyahu will try to persuade Trump to retract U.S. support for the nuclear deal between world powers and Iran.
"The most important thing in the upcoming meeting is demanding the cancellation of the nuclear deal," said Israeli Transportation Minister Israel Katz, in a radio interview.
Trump and Netanyahu also discussed their continued efforts to achieve an enduring Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement, the statement said.
