PARIS, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- An additional security check and evacuation of a British Airways plane at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport in Paris was caused by a false alert, French radio Franceinfo reported Sunday.
Paris Charles de Gaulle airport announced earlier on Sunday morning that an additional security check was in progress for the Paris-London flight from BritishAirway BA303. The passengers were picked up by airport staff before re-boarding.
The passengers of this flight were evacuated for "safety reasons," media reports had said.
"Initially, the pilot told us there were technical problems, and we waited for about an hour, and at one point we noticed that police vehicles were encircling us, with dozens of armed officers and firemen," according to James Anderson, a passenger of the British Airways flight evacuated, quoted by Franceinfo.
"The pilot then explained that there was a security threat specifically involving our flight, and each passenger and every piece of luggage was thoroughly searched," Anderson said.
Due to frequent terror attacks in France and other European countries in recent years, France is on high alert against security threats in public places.
