Afghan president leaves for Turkmen capital for one-day trip

KABUL, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday left Kabul to Ashgabat, capital of neighboring Turkmenistan for a one-day official visit, said the Afghan Presidential Palace.

"President Ashraf Ghani left Sunday morning for Turkmenistan to attend the inauguration ceremony of the 5th Asian Indoor Games 2017 held in Ashgabat," the palace said in a statement.

Ghani will also hold separate meetings with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon during the visit, the statement noted.
