Brunei records 150 mln USD trade balance in June

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- For the month of June, Brunei's trade balance amounted to 201.7 million Brunei dollars (150 million U.S. dollars), a 13.2 percent year-on-year increase, according to the latest statistics released by local economic planning authorities on Friday.

Total exports amounted to 592.8 million Brunei dollars, while imports were valued at 391.1 million Brunei dollars. Mineral fuels recorded the highest contribution of 92.9 percent of total exports, comprising crude oil (267.2 million Brunei dollars) and liquefied natural gas (282.3 million Brunei dollars), according to the country's Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) under the Prime Minister's Office.

According to JPKE, the highest exports market was Japan with 34.5 percent of total exports, followed by South Korea (13.3 percent), India (12.9 percent), Thailand (9.8 percent) and others.

In June 2017, imports of goods increased by 16.0 percent year-on-year from 337.3 million Brunei dollars in June 2016 to 391.1 million Brunei dollars.

The highest imports came from Singapore with 39.8 percent of total imports, followed by China (15.3 percent), Malaysia (14.2 percent), the United States (6.9 percent) and others. Enditem
