LUSAKA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Zambia has made a huge leap on the world soccer governing body, FIFA/Coca Cola rankings, by moving 18 places upwards, its soccer governing body said on Thursday.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) said the country has moved to occupy the 78th position in the world and 16th in Africa after an impressive run of results in recent games, citing the latest rankings released by the world soccer governing body.
The soccer governing body said the huge leap was due to the national soccer team's back-to-back wins over Algeria in recent World Cup qualifiers as well as wins over South Africa and Swaziland to qualify for the 2018 Kenya African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals.
