UN Security Council approves new sanctions against DPRK over nuke test

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- The UN Security Council on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution to impose fresh sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) over its nuclear test on Sept. 3 in violation of previous Security Council resolutions.

The new resolution curtails the DPRK's oil imports, bans all its textile exports and remittances of DPRK laborers from abroad.

Monday's resolution is the third Security Council action concerning the Asian country in five weeks.
