At least 2 killed, 5 injured in car bombing in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and five others injured in a car bomb explosion outside a restaurant in Mogadishu's central business district on Monday.

Police officer Hassan Nur confirmed the casualties to Xinhua, noting the victims were taking tea outside the restaurant outside Wehliye hotel.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but Al-Shabaab militants have in the past targeted areas of the Somali capital, including hotels, military checkpoints and areas near the presidential palace.
