RABAT, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Qatar has decided to grant Moroccan nationals visa-free entry, local media reported Wednesday.

The daily Le Matin said Qatari Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani made the announcement at a meeting with Moroccan officials Tuesday.

The decision was conveyed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki, who heads a Moroccan delegation, representing King Mohammed VI at the inauguration ceremony of Qatar's new Hamad Port.

In August, Qatar announced it was exempting the nationals of eighty countries from entry visas, and Morocco was not included.

The two sides also hailed the development of bilateral ties, the same source said.

On the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, El Malki conveyed to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Moroccan king's brotherly greetings and his esteem for the development efforts made to boost the economy and serve the Qatari people.

El Malki also conferred with President of the Qatari Advisory Council Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi on issues of mutual concern and cooperation prospects between the two legislative institutions, it added.
