LONDON, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.89 percent, or 65.36 points, to close at 7,430.62 points.
International private hospital group Mediclinic International soared 2.89 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Anglo American and Hargreaves Lansdown increased by 2.82 percent and 2.71 percent, respectively.
G4S,a British multinational security services company, was the worst performer of the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.01 percent. Provident Financial, a British sub-prime lender, dropped 1.01 percent. Leading UK retailer Tesco fell 0.82 percent. Enditem
