MOSCOW, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Three people died in a fire which broke out on Monday in a private boarding house for elderly people in the city of Krasnoyarsk in Russia's Far East Siberia region, authorities said.
An investigative team is working on the site to establish the exact cause of the fire, the Russian investigative committee said in a statement.
According to preliminary information, the fire began in an adjacent building and then spread to the terrace of the boarding house and to its second floor, from which 34 people were evacuated, the statement said.
The Sputnik news agency quoted a source in the city's emergencies services as saying that the death toll has reached four.
A legal assessment will be made of the actions or inaction of the management of the private institution for the elderly citizens whose duties were to ensure fire safety, as well as of officials of controlling bodies, the committee said.
