KIEV, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- A man and a woman were injured in an explosion of an unknown device in central Kiev during Ukraine's Independence Day celebrations on Thursday.
The explosion occurred at 2:06 p.m. local time (GMT 1106) at the Grushevskogo street, near the Khreschatyk street, where a military parade was held earlier in the day, the Interfax-Ukraine News Agency reported, citing a police statement.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown.
A team of investigators and explosion experts have been working at the site of the blast.
