The following are profiles of the five Cultural Ambassadors of the Qiantang River in east China’s Zhejiang Province.

Chen Zhenlian, deputy to China's National People's Congress (NPC), is Chief Cultural Ambassador of the Qiantang River.

Also known as Yizhai by his literary name, Chen Zhenlian was born in Shanghai (February 1956) .

Chen graduated from China Academy of Art in 1981 and became Professor and PhD. supervisor in 1993 at China Academy of Art. In 2000, Chen was transferred to Zhejiang University (ZJU) as deputy Dean of School of Humanities and deputy Dean of Art Department and PhD. supervisor, and later Dean of Art School, Director of ZJU Institute of Chinese Art Studies, and Director of ZJU Art Center of Calligraphy and Painting.

Chen is highly acclaimed for his pioneering achievements in art creation, theory and education. Chen is a national expert entitled to special allowance of the central government.

Weng Renkang is a member of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

Weng was born in July, 1960 in Xiaoshan County, east China’s Zhejiang Province. Weng showed special aptitude for art of various forms when he was a little kid.

After leaving school, Wen became an itinerant performer obsessed with ballad singing. In 1986, Weng was given a preferential offer to work at the Cultural Center of Xiaoshan County, following his award-winning performance at a national quyi (ballad singing) contest.

In 2008, Weng was transferred and promoted as Chairman and Secretary General of Zhengjiang Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

For decades, Weng loves taking a walk in the rural areas; every year, he performs at grass-root level over a hundred times. He draws inspiration from the people and shares it with the people.

As the leading figure of ballad singing and performing in Zhejiang, Weng Renkang is a household ballad singer, writer and performer.

Sun Yang was the champion of the 400-meter freestyle men and 1500-meter freestyle men at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and champion of 200-meter freestyle men at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.

Sun was born in Hangzhou on December 1st, 1991. He is proudly a role model for the youth.

Undaunted by years of intense training, Sun has managed to deliver supreme excellence and positive energy to the general public and showcases what it means to dare to be first, ride the tides and never, never, never give up.

When recognized as Cultural Ambassador of the Qiantang River, Sun set new goals for himself: He is prepared to win another gold medal or even more at the forthcoming 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, making himself the first three-straight Olympic medalist among Chinese athletes in swimming.

He said he would try his best to spread the Qiantang River culture worldwide and ride the tides of the times.

Wang Shuifu, founder of XIZI UHC, is now Party Secretary and Chairman of the group.

When Mr. Wang first launched his venture back in 1981, today’s XIZI UHC was just another family workshop of a dozen people specialized in making farm tools.

Mr. Wang is one of those tide riders with great determination and visionary leadership. Today, XIZI UHC is China' s leading equipment manufacturing group and Top 500 Chinese company.

Mr.Wang himself has accordingly taken home a wide range of honors, including National Model Workers and Lifetime Achievement Award for Most Respected Chinese Entrepreneurs. At the invitation of Zhejiang University, Mr. Wang is also a distinguished professor of MBA program at School of Management.

Mr. David Dumont, MA of International Brand Communication at Brand Academy Hamburg, is a teacher at CDK, China Academy of Art. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr DuMont is also in charge of marketing cooperative programs to institutions of higher education. He has great insight into regional cultural brands. Growing up in Sweden and Germany, DuMont benefits from a highly internationalized educational background. After finishing high school, he started volunteering at an orphanage in Georgia where he realized what a difference communication could make on orphans.

This experience prompted him to take communication as his calling. After receiving education in communication and management in Germany, Turkey and Latvijas Republika, DuMont started working at a company in Hamburg, helping clients to engineer traditional business models and providing communication solutions to cross cultural branding. DuMont believes in the importance of regional cultures and cross cultural communication and he is pleased to help spread the Qiantang River culture to the world.
