THE HAGUE, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Dutch police arrested a man in the province of North Brabant on early Thursday morning in connection with the terror threat at a concert in Rotterdam a day earlier.

At around 2 a.m. (0000 GMT) Thursday, a special unit of the national police entered the house of the 22-year-old suspect and arrested him, the police stated. His house was also investigated.

On Wednesday night the police arrested a Spanish man driving a van with a Spanish license plate. He drew the attention of a police officer, when he drove along Mijnsherenlaan street. Police found gas canisters in the van.

Earlier before the arrest, a pop concert by Allah-Las, a U.S. pop group from California, was canceled by police due to a terror threat.

The link between the van and the terror threat at the Maassilo concert hall is being investigated. "It is too early to draw conclusions," said Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb.

On Wednesday afternoon, mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb received a warning of a terror threat from the Spanish police, who are on extra alert after the recent attacks in Spain.

The message was that a terrorist attack was planned during the concert. According to the mayor, the threat was serious enough to cancel the event.
