MUMBAI, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Indian markets closed higher Wednesday, with the Sensex rising over 270 points on strong market breadth.
Weighted stock Infosys together with banking and financials section drove the market higher while FMCG stocks were mildly under pressure.
The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 31,568.01, 276.16 points or 0.88 percent up compared to its previous close at 31,291.85.
