Snooker China Championship: Higgins, Ding through

GUANGZHOU, China, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- John Higgins eased past Liu Haotian 5-0 While China's number one Ding Junhui overcame Niu Zhuang 5-1 in their first round ties at the Evergrande China Championship here on Wednesday.

The four-time World Champion took just less than an hour to complete the victory. There were breaks of 72, 129, 63, 69 and 62 for Higgins.

China's number one Ding Junhui overcame Niu Zhuang 5-1. After losing the first frame, Ding won five in a row making a break of 81 along the way. However, another Chinese star Liang Wenbo suffered a shock 5-3 defeat to Ian Burns.

World Champion Mark Selby came through his opening tie over wildcard Luo Honghao 5-1, while Shaun Murphy came from 4-3 down to edge past Ken Doherty 5-4.
