MADRID, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Two men were killed on Monday morning in Spain when their vehicle was hit by a train in the province of Ciudad Real in central Spain, the local media reported.
The accident happened at 7:48 a.m. local time about 2.5 km outside the railway station of a town called Almagro.
It appears the vehicle was crossing the tracks where there's no safety barrier when it was hit by a goods train. The vehicle was dragged around 300 meters down the line, killing the two occupants.
The victims have been described as a 45 year-old man, who was travelling to one of his properties, and a 34-year-old employee.
Civil Guards and local police went to the accident site to investigate the possible causes, while the line was closed until 12:30 p.m.
Many railway crossings in rural areas of Spain do not have safety barriers.
