NAIROBI, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan opposition leaders on Thursday demanded the declaration of final presidential election results, saying their candidate Raila Odinga, emerged the victor in Tuesday's elections against incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) campaign leader Musalia Mudavadi said results contained in the internal servers of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) showed Odinga won the elections with 8.04 million votes against Kenyatta's 7.75 million votes.
"We demand the IEBC declares Odinga as the duly elected president. We are releasing the undoctored results as contained in the IEBC servers," Mudavadi told journalists in Nairobi.
He said a confidential source at the electoral body gave them the results amid concerns that such contradictions will trigger violence but the NASA principal said this is not their intention.
The IEBC results on display on its screenshot showed Kenyatta leading the race with 8.05 million votes, which is about 54 percent of the vote against Odinga's 6.6 million votes, which is 44 percent of the vote.
Mudavadi, who addressed a news conference with the NASA candidate Raila Odinga, said the coalition leadership met the IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and presented a protest letter, demanding that the commission declares Odinga the President-elect alongside his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka.
They thus demanded that the electoral body stops forthwith the display of unverified and unauthenticated results and allow political parties to download all the Forms 34A and Forms 34B to enable them to verify them expeditiously.
"It is practically impossible for political parties to verify all the 41,000 documents with only two terminals that the IEBC is providing," reads the letter to the IEBC chair.
"We are not doing IEBC's job but the numbers posted by IEBC have anomalies. At this point we have stated our position. We have indicated the facts before us. We doubt the verification process at Bomas."
Earlier, the opposition coalition said the commission's servers were hacked and the results altered to show Kenyatta winning the vote.
Mudavadi said the coalition had credible information the hacking of the IEBC servers was meant to declare pre-determined outcomes. The IEBC promised to investigate the alleged hacking of its servers.
However, the IEBC responded late on Wednesday there was no evidence of an attack on its servers.
According to the coalition, the results which show Odinga's victory were based on computer prints from the IEBC internal servers.
The IEBC said it was preparing to declare the final results on Friday after verifying the results and the forms from the election in all the 290 constituencies.
Chebukati said they are in the final stretch of the tallying process and hoped to conclude the 290 constituencies which will be followed by declaration of the winner.
"We have called all the returning officers to ensure all forms 34A and 34B are here latest 12 p.m. tomorrow (Friday). We will validate the forms and make the announcement soon thereafter," Chebukati told journalists in Nairobi.
He said so far 1,032 polling stations out of the 40,883 are yet to submit the results.
Chebukati said out of the 290 forms 34B, the commission has so far received 117 and confirmation and validation are currently in progress.
"The commission has done its best to ensure a credible election. We hope to announce the presidential results within the shortest time possible," he said.
