WINDHOEK, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- The beleaguered Namibia Premier League (NPL) will decide Tuesday when the matches suspended in May 2016 because of lack of funding will resume.

In a statement Monday, the premier league that lost the sponsorship from the mobile operator, MTC, said they would seek an audience with the Namibia Football Association over the issue of matches.

The NPL's budget is 24 million Namibian dollars per year.

MTC discontinued the support after the NPL failed to raise 9 million Namibian dollars (about 640,000 U.S. dollars).

At the time, the MTC had said it would make available 15 million Namibian dollars (about 1.1 million U.S. dollars) and that the NPL should raise the rest.

The premier league made the statement after a meeting held Saturday in Windhoek where they adopted a draft of a new constitution.

The league's board of governors is expected to meet Tuesday to approve the draft before passing it on to the Namibia Football Association for ratification.

Tuesday's meeting is also supposed to map the premier league's way forward regarding the congress where the constitution would be endorsed, and new leaders elected.

Sebastian Neuf and Nic Coward represented the International Federation of Football Association at Saturday's meeting. Enditem
