Greece's Stefanidi wins women's pole vault title at athletics worlds

LONDON, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Ekaterini Stefanidi claimed the women's pole vault title by clearing a world-leading 4.91 meters at the World Athletics Championships here on Sunday.

The 27-year-old then added the world title to the Olympic champion she won last year in Rio.

American Sandi Morris won silver in 4.75 meters and Venezuela's Robeilys Peinado took bronze in 4.65.

Stefanidi, a graduate of human biology from Standford University, had secured the gold medal after clearing 4.82 meters in her third attempt. She failed once at 4.89 but successfully conquered 4.91 meters.

She tried three times at 5.02 meters but all failed. Enditem
