MOSCOW, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- All the three Chinese competing teams in a tank biathlon contest at the International Army Games 2017 in Russia have been through to the semi-finals.

A total of 76 crews from 19 countries competed in the first round of the tank biathlon from July 29 to Aug. 5, and the top 12 teams moved to the semi-finals.

The competitors were required to go through an obstacle course and fire their main guns and machine guns at ground and air targets. The Chinese team operating domestically-developed 96B-type tanks ranked high in this round.

The three-day semi-finals will start on Tuesday in the form of a relay race.

"We will be prepared both mentally and technically. We are familiar with the course now after completing the first round," said Chinese team member Guo Shengdong.

"The Chinese soldiers are well trained and they performed better than last year. We expect our Chinese friends to achieve a good result," said Roman Binyukov, referee of the tank biathlon contest.

The International Army Games 2017, underway from July 29 to Aug. 12, consist of 28 events held in Russia, China, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
