HANOI, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- A total of 23 Vietnamese shooters will fire at the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia, hoping to bag home three golds, the Vietnam Shooting Federation said on Saturday.
Vietnam's top marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, the country's first Olympic gold medalist, will compete in three out of four shooting events, the federation said, noting that Malaysia has removed the event of center-fire pistol, one of his strong points.
Vinh is expected to win two golds, and one of his compatriots, Bui Hong Phong, Nguyen Xuan Chuyen or Phan Cong Minh, is forecast to bag home one gold.
In the coming SEA Games slated for Aug. 19-30, hosts Malaysia has decided to remove all shooting team events, at which Vietnamese shooters are really good, said the association.
In the previous SEA Games in Singapore, Vietnamese shooters grabbed 11 golds.
