Kazakhstan hosts international military games

ASTANA, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- More than 400 soldiers from 18 countries gathered Tuesday in a military base in southern Kazakhstan for the opening ceremony of an international military games.

Kazakh drummers, dombra players and a military orchestra staged performances for the participants and guests, and the Kazakhstan air force also performed spectacular aerobatics, at the 40th military base of Kazakhstan Armed Forces in the Zhambyl region.

The military games, expected to conclude on Aug. 9, will include competitions such as sniper rifle, experts of artillery fire and unmanned aerial vehicle exercises.

It is the second time that Kazakhstan has held the Russia-initiated military games. Other hosting countries of the annual event this year are China, Russia, Azerbaijan and Belarus.
