Explosion rocks near airport in Afghanistan's Kandahar

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- An explosion rocked near an airport in Kandahar city, capital of Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar on Wednesday, with feared casualties, a local police said.

"The blast occurred in Shoorandam locality when a foreign forces' military convoy was passing the area at around midday," the police source told Xinhua, adding that a suicide car bombing was suspected.
