HELSINKI, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Two Spanish F18 fighters allegedly violated Finnish air space on Tuesday morning, the Defence Ministry reported.
Ministry specialist Kirsti Haimilo told national broadcaster Yle the violation took place at 9 a.m. local time (06 GMT) south of Upinniemi, a military base area in southern Finland.
She said the Spanish aircraft were on a NATO duty mission. Further investigation will be carried out by the Finnish Border Guard.
Haimilo said the violation had been detected with "normal surveillance techniques."
