CHICAGO, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) tripled its net profit in the 2nd quater of 2017 from the same period a year ago, the auto maker announced on Thursday.
The FCA's Q2 net profit reached a record 1.2 million euros, or 1.4 billion in U.S. dollars, on strong performances in North America, as well as from Maserati and its components business.
FCA reported that its profit margin reached a new high at 6.7 percent in the 2nd quarter, with North American hitting a record 8.4 percent.
The best performance came from Maserati. Its margin was at 14.2 percent, boosted by sales which increased by 54 percent year on year.
"It was a strong quarter," Chief Financial Officer Richard Palmer said during a conference call. "With the progress we've made in the first half of the year, we are confirming our full-year guidance."
The Italian-American automaker set its 2017 goals at 115-120 billion euros in net revenue, with net profit at 3 billion euros. (1 euro=1.17 USD) Enditem
