TEHRAN, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran's multinational automaker IKCO is set to introduce Peugeot 301 to the Iranian market in the near future, Financial Tribune daily reported on Tuesday.
The sedan is assembled by IKCO under a joint venture with the French automaker, it said.
According to the report, the latest version of the car will probably sell for 17,350 U.S. dollars in the Islamic country.
Peugeot 301 was first launched overseas in late 2012. The vehicle is currently produced in Spain's Vigo, Nigeria's Kaduna and China's Wuhan. It has been on sale in Turkey for three years.
It was also announced here last month that the French automaker intended to tap the Iranian market for Peugeot 508.
The car would be first sold under its sports variant called the GT line, which would offer a better level of comfort and sportier features, according to the daily.
The Peugeot 508 will be imported to the country from its assembly plants in China, Malaysia or France.
With 100 percent tariff levied on the vehicle, it could cost as many as three billion rials, or some 80,000 dollars, in Iran.
As one of the major competitors in auto industry, IKCO has launched Peugeot 206 in Iran, which is a popular brand among young Iranians.
