TIRANA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Albania welcomed Monday the new President of Republic Ilir Meta with an official swearing-in ceremony.
Meta, who held the post of Parliament Speaker up to now, was inaugurated as country's 7th President, replacing Bujar Nishani.
After taking the oath and the singing of the National Anthem, Meta delivered a speech in front of the Parliament, where he made an overview of his work as speaker and outlined his main priorities as Albania's new head of state.
Meta stressed that Albania and its stability would be his priorities in his new post.
Meta was elected on April 28, with 87 votes pro and two against.
The swearing-in ceremony was also attended by diplomatic Corps accredited to Albania and political, social and religious personalities of the country.
