YANGON, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has found out the cause of the June 7 military plane crash, blaming adverse weather for the main reason of the accident, according to a statement of the office of the commander-in-chief of the Defense Services issued Tuesday night.
Based on the weather report and the two black boxes, flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, that were retrieved on June 18, the accident was found out to have occurred due to loss of control after experiencing irregular weather.
It caused the plane to stall or lose the ability to attain lift, resulting in a spin or nose dive, according to a third party investigation group involving Australian technicians.
The investigation and analysis concluded that the aircraft had crashed due to adverse weather condition and not from any act of sabotage, explosion or engine failure.
No equipment malfunction of any part of the plane up to the crash time, the statement said, however adding that while en route from Myeik to Yangon, the wind speed increased gradually, then the heating system to heat both wings was activated in order to fly through the cloud.
Within the short time span of flying time, an alarm was triggered indicating icing in the aircraft engine air intake. A cross wind suddenly increased then, causing the aircraft drift from the flight path at still speed.
With a load of 2.4 tons of cargo and 122 people aboard, including 108 military personnel and their family members and 14 crew members, the aircraft lost contact with the ground shortly after taking off from Myeik on June 7.
The plane crashed in the Andaman Sea off the southern Tanintharyi region. So far, a total of 92 bodies of victims have been recovered with no survivors appearing.
According to the military, during the period from June 7 to July 2, 13 naval vessels and 26 local fishing vessels have taken part in the search for the plane wreckage.
A total of 261 pieces of wreckage have been recovered so far which are categorized into nose section, middle fuselage and rear section.
On June 18, two black boxes were found in the retrieved plane's tail section which was entangled with a fishing net of a local vessel under the sea .
With the help of international cooperation, the authorities have tried to ascertain the plane crash based on the two black boxes.
